Baseball Splits Non-Conference Series With Middlebury

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bowdoin baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader against Middlebury on Sunday afternoon on the campus of UMass-Boston.
 
The Polar Bears (8-5) fell 1-0 to the Panthers (10-4) in game one. Bowdoin rebounded with a 4-0 win in game two.
 
Game One Highlights
  • The game's sole run came in the top of the first inning. Jack Stolper hit a leadoff single and made his way to third with a steal and fielding error. John Collins drove in Stolper with an RBI single.
  • The only other time either team put itself in position to score again was Middlebury in the second inning. Nathan Samii was tagged out at home trying to score from first off Sammy Smith's doubled.
  • CJ Brito-Trindad was the only Bowdoin player to record a hit, going 2-for-3 at the plate.
  • The pitchers for both teams pitched complete games. Jason Bogdanos fanned eight batters and scattered five hits over seven innings. Alex Price struck out 11 Bowdoin batters.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • Kevin Murray scored Bowdoin's first run of the day with a solo homerun to lead off the top of the second. Lukas Tsai plated Gabe Peckler with a single and eventually scored on Liam Foley's RBI double.
  • Tsai had his second RBI single of the game in the sixth inning.
  • Peckler, Tsai, and Jack Olcott all went 2-for-3.
  • Jack Mullen pitched a complete game with four hits allowed and eight strikeouts.
