BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's tennis team will open play at the 2023 New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship on Friday in Vermont.
The Polar Bears (5-10 / 5-5 NESCAC) are the sixth seed for the tournament and will open against third-seeded Amherst at 11:30 a.m. Friday morning at Middlebury College. Williams will host the semifinal and championship rounds on Saturday and Sunday.
The Polar Bears have qualified for the NESCAC Championship 21 times since 2001 and are the No. 6 seed for the second straight season. Bowdoin enters the tournament having won three of its last four matches. In the regular season meeting, Amherst claimed a 5-4 victory over the Polar Bears in the spring opener on March 4. Bowdoin is 0-2 against Amherst in the NESCAC postseason series which includes a 7-2 loss in the 2007 semifinals.
