Women's Lacrosse Suffers Home Loss to MIT

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team suffered a 14-9 setback to MIT on Wednesday evening at Ryan Field. The Engineers move to 8-1 this season while the Polar Bears fall to 3-5 overall.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Engineers took a 3-0 lead in the opening ten minutes of the contest and led 4-1 late in the opening frame.
  • Bowdoin used a 4-0 run, capped by a Fiona Bundy goal, to take their only lead of the contest at 12:35 of the second quarter.
  • The Engineers responded with a 5-1 run to close the first half, taking a 9-6 lead at the break, and Bowdoin got no closer than three goals in the second half.

  • MIT goaltender Abigail Kolyer was outstanding, stopping 17 shots as Bowdoin held a 33-25 advantage in shots.
  • Sophia Sudano scored four goals and Fiona Bundy had two in the loss.
  • Sophie Schaefer had seven draw controls and five ground balls to lead Bowdoin in both categories.
  • Izzy Cisneros (30 MP, six goals, three assists), Sophie Brett (15 MP, five goals, one save) and Sophia Rutman (15 MP, three goals, one save) split time in net for the Polar Bears.
