BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Williams College women's lacrosse team rallied from a six-goal halftime deficit to defeat Bowdoin, 12-11, in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Ryan Field. The 24
th-ranked Ephs improve to 4-1 (2-1 NESCAC) while the 15
th-ranked Polar Bears fall to 2-3 (1-2 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- The Polar Bears took control in the early going, rolling off a seven-goal first quarter to take a commanding 7-2 lead after the opening frame.
- Sophia Sudano scored four goals in the first period and Fiona Bundy and Annie Moore scored second quarter goals to give the Polar Bears a 9-3 edge at intermission.
- Williams locked Bowdoin down defensively in the second half, however, holding the Polar Bears scoreless for over 29 minutes of game time and slowly chipped away at the lead.
- Franny Donahue scored three times in a 6-0 third quarter for the Ephs that tied the contest.
- Williams opened the final quarter with a pair of goals to take a 11-9 lead with 5:40 remaining
- Bowdoin didn't go away and scored twice in the span of 2:24 as Sudano's goal with 3:05 remaining forced overtime.
- Elsa Dean-Muncie put the game away for Williams with a free-position goal just 43 seconds into overtime to clinch the victory.
