HARTFORD, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team concluded its season with a 2-2 overtime tie at Trinity on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears, who were eliminated from playoff contention, finish their season with a 7-13-3 (2-13-2) record. Trinity moves to 10-10-1 (4-9-1).
Game Highlights
- The Polar Bears successfully converted on an early second period power play to go ahead 1-0. Gia Massari controlled the puck in the left corner and drifted center along the back boards. Massari connected with Brett Stoddard who was skating toward the near post. Stoddard wristed a top shelf shot to the far post.
- The Bantams answered three minutes later. Ethel Wilhelmsson handled from the left to right across the top of the crease and backhanded a shot past Dani Marquez.
- The Polar Bears regained the lead in the opening minute of the third period when a puck cycled around the net to Peyton Mulhern, who rifled a shot from the high slot just 56 seconds into the stanza to give Bowdoin a 2-1 edge.
- Bowdoin held their lead for nearly 19 minutes of play until the closing seconds of the third period, when a scramble in front of the net saw Claudia Capone poke home the game-tying goal to force overtime.
- The overtime session featured back-and-forth play but neither team could find the game-winner.
