Big Second Half Lifts Men's Basketball to Win Over Gordon

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team ran away from Gordon in the second half of a 74-51 win on Saturday in Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears enter break with a 5-5 record while Gordon falls to 2-7 this season.
 
Game Highlights
  • Both teams struggled to find their offensive footing in the opening half, but Bowdoin was able to carry a 27-21 lead into intermission thanks to seven first-half points from Kevin Reeves.
  • The Polar Bears came alive in the second half, and used a 14-1 run, capped by an Alex Halpern three-pointer, to take a 52-33 lead with 11 minutes to go.
  • Gordon was unable to get closer than 17 from there, as the Polar Bears knocked down five three-pointers and shot 48% from the field to push their lead to as many as 25 points on their way to the win.

  • A season-high 12 different players scored for the Polar Bears in the win, led by Alex Halpern's 15 points.
  • Ben Chilson, Michael Simonds, and Kevin Reeves each had nine points in the win.
  • Reeves finished with nine boards while Simonds had eight as the Polar Bears owned a 58-35 advantage on the glass.
  • Bowdoin finished at 40% shooting and held Gordon to 29% from the field.
