BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team overwhelmed Colby on Saturday in Morrell Gymnasium, 86-63. The Polar Bears improve to 5-1 with the win while the Mules fall to 6-2.
 
Game Highlights

• Bowdoin scored 20 points in each of the first two quarters, and used an 8-2 run, capped by a layup from Megan Tan, to push the lead to double digits midway through the second.
• A Maria Belardi three-pointer sparked a 7-1 surge in the final minutes of the second quarter as Bowdoin carried a 40-27 lead into the break.
• Colby could never cut the Bowdoin lead back to single digits after that, as the Polar Bears led by as many as 18 in the third following a three-pointer from Jess Giorgio.
• The Polar Bears led by as many as 26 points in the fourth quarter en route to the win.

By The Numbers

• Bowdoin finished at 53% shooting for the game, including a scalding 18-25 (72%) effort from the field in the second half.
• The Polar Bears dominated the boards, controlling a 43-21 edge on the glass and cashing in for 14 second chance points.
• Syndey Jones scored 22 points with nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals to lead the Polar Bears.
• Callie Godfrey poured in 18 points with four boards and two blocks while Maria Belardi added 15 points and eight rebounds.
• Megan Tan also saw double digits with 11 points and three assists.
• Bowdoin held Colby to 42% shooting for the contest and went 14-17 from the free throw stripe. The Mules went 16-25 from the free throw line in the contest.
