BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's soccer team scored two goals in the final two minutes of regulation to come from behind and post a 3-2 win over Trinity on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears remain unbeaten at 7-0-3 (3-0-2 NESCAC). The Bantams nearly came away with the win, but leave Brunswick with a 3-5-2 (1-4-2 NESCAC) record.
Game Highlights
- Trinity had a promising scoring chance 15 minutes into action as Nick Bellak headed a ball on net off a corner only to see Alex Ainsworth make a diving save.
- Mateo Pacelli countered five minutes later with a give-and-go that forced a big save from Nate Dyott.
- The Bantams broke through just 2:25 into the second half. Taking advantage of the corner kick opportunity, Quinn Ackman crossed the ball to Jack Murphy for a diving header.
- Bowdoin dominated the next 20 minutes of play but was unable to find the net.
- Felipe Rueda Duran handled the ball down the right side and found Ronaldo Cabral with a pinpoint pass to the toe. Cabral buried the ball under the crossbar to tie the game in the 69th minute.
- Trinity regained the lead ten minutes later. Bellak controlled the ball down the side and found Rasheed Sarieh in the box for a turnaround shot that escaped the diving hands of Ainsworth.
- Bowdoin continued to battle and found an equalizer in the 89th minute. Rueda Duran redirected a feed from Jack Selig, finishing the play in front of the net.
- Rueda Duran gave Bowdoin its only lead of the game with a game-winning penalty kick with 53 seconds remaining in regulation.
