BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College volleyball team mounted a furious comeback but came up just short in a five-set loss to Illinois Wesleyan on Friday evening at Morrell Gymnasium.
 
Match Highlights

• The five-set marathon clocked in at 2 hours and 30 minutes with IWU prevailing 25-15, 25-18, 19-25, 21-25, 24-22.
• After dropping the first two sets, Bowdoin rebounded to force a deciding fifth set.
• Trailing 12-9, Bowdoin rallied to take a 13-12 lead in the fifth and fended off a match point to take a 15-14 lead.
• The Polar Bears had four attempts to put away the match, but IWU stymied each match point. Down 22-21, Illinois Wesleyan scored three straight points to finally prevail, 24-22.

By The Numbers

• Skye LaMendola had 16 kills and ten digs for Bowdoin while Lauren Lange had 12 kills and two blocks.
• Bowdoin had 15 blocks as a team, led by five from Lily Janas.
• Ella Haugen had 34 assists and 21 digs while Maya White posted 28 digs.
