Women's Soccer Scores Three Unanswered Goals to Top Hamilton

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Bowdoin women's soccer team returned to the win column with a 3-1 win at Hamilton on Saturday.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 7-3-2 (4-2-1 NESCAC). The Continentals drop to 6-3-3 (3-3-3 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Hamilton's lone goal came quickly, scoring just 1:05 into the contest. Abby Douglass took the throw-in and found Olivia Marrow who tipped it back to Douglass. Douglass crossed the ball to the middle of the box where Sarah Flood put a touch high over Charlotte Iannone.
  • The Continentals nearly doubled their lead, but the header in the 17th minute sailed over the crossbar.
  • Greta Farkas tied the game in the 22nd minute with a free kick goal from just outside the box.
  • The Polar Bears took their first lead of the game with 24:99 remaining in the second half. Laila Nickelson polished off a corner kick set up to make it 2-1.
  • Stephanie Christianson scored the third and final goal in the 83rd minute. Christianson converted on a penalty kick opportunity.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin held a slight 14-13 edge in shots, but a more significant 6-2 shots on goal advantage.
  • The Polar Bears earned five corner kicks to Hamilton's three.
  • Nieve Tonna made three saves for Hamilton.
  • Iannone made one stop.
