Women's Hockey Races Past Wildcats on Tuesday Afternoon

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's hockey team exploded for five goals in the second period to race to an 8-0 victory over Johnson & Wales on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears sweep the early week series and improve to 6-4-0 on the season. The Wildcats leave Brunswick still in search of their first win (0-8-2).
 
 
Game Highlights
  • Brett Stoddard tallied a two-goal game, netting the team's first at 15:51 in the opening frame. Anyi Sun collected a clear attempt off the visitors' bench boards and circled back along Bowdoin's blue line. Sun skated into Wildcat territory and past the goal line, before feeding Stoddard in the slot for a one-timer.
  • Bowdoin scored four of its five second period goals in the first ten minutes. Allie Britt made it 2-0 just over two minutes into the period. Zoe Wilson and Elly Whitmore each tallied power play goals within ten seconds of each other.
  • Sun scored her first of two goals at 9:51 and added another six minutes later.
  • Stoddard and Wilson each had third period tallies.
 
By the Numbers
  • Stoddard, Wilson, and Sun all had two-goal days. Sun led the team with three assists. Gia Massari added a pair of helpers.
  • Sally Solotaroff-Webber earned her second shutout of the season with a 16 save performance.
  • Leah White saw her first action and suffered the loss with 14 saves in 29:13 worth of play. Sofia Tamayo made 20 saves.
  • Bowdoin went 2-for-3 on the power play.
  • The Wildcats were 0-for-1 on the power play.
