MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Bowdoin men's hockey team was overwhelmed by the Wesleyan power play in a 5-3 Friday night result.
The Polar Bears (8-3-1, 4-3-1 NESCAC) suffer their second straight setback. The Cardinals climb to 8-2-1, (5-1-1 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin took a 1-0 lead in the final five minutes of the first period. The goalie couldn't ice a loose puck scrum in front of the net, allowing the puck to squirt out. Jimmy Duffy skated down the slot and buried a one-timer through traffic.
- Two minutes later, Ethan Kimball converted on another disruption in front of the net. As the puck came back out to Chris Brown, Brown found Kimball to the left for a quick shot.
- Wesleyan converted on the power play in the final 54 seconds. Jake Lachance controlled the puck low on the left side and fed Colin Cobb in front for a deflection.
- Wesleyan tied the game at 8:19 in the second and later took its first lead of the game on a power play goal one minute later.
- The Cardinals' fourth unanswered goal, and third of the second period, came with 5:50 remaining.
- Wesleyan opened the third with another power play tally to go ahead 5-2.
- Jack Gilligan scored the final goal for either time at 13:20 with a blast from the point.
