Men's Soccer Comes Back to Force 1-1 Tie Against Middlebury

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's soccer team came from behind to force a 1-1 tie to keep its unbeaten streak alive against Middlebury on Saturday.
 
The Polar Bears (5-0-1, 2-0-1 NESCAC) battled back from an early deficit to tie the Panthers (3-1-2, 0-1-2 NESCAC) for the tenth-time in program history.  
 
Game Highlights
  • Just under seven minutes into action, Jordan Saint-Louis crossed the ball from the left to right across the goal face. A Bowdoin defender misplayed the ball on the right post and it deflected in for a 1-0 Middlebury lead.
  • Middlebury's Ben Powers saw a header off a corner kick deflect off the post in the 22nd minute.
  • Bowdoin controlled the offensive pressure in the first half, holding a 7-1 edge in shots.
  • The Polar Bears finally broke through with an equalizer in the 75th minute. Felipe Rueda Duran won the ball off a defender and carried center. Rueda Duran served Tyler Huck the ball two yards outside the box. Huck played the ball down and took two strides before booting it near right post.

  • Bowdoin held a decisive 8-2 edge in corner kicks.
  • The Polar Bears outshot Middlebury 11-7.
  • Michael Webber made four saves for Bowdoin
  • Ryan Grady made five stops for the Panthers.
