Women's Soccer Falls at Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Bowdoin women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season in a tight 2-1 setback at Connecticut College.
 
The Polar Bears are 4-1-0 (1-1-0 NESCAC) as the Camels sport a 3-1-0 (1-1-0 NESCAC) record.
 
Game Highlights
  • Just three minutes into the game, the Camels took a 1-0 lead. Clare Mulvihill forced a midfield turnover and offered up a leading pass to Mya Johnson. Johnson broke through Bowdoin's defense and fired a right footed shot into the bottom left corner.
  • Morgan Smiley nearly evened the game 14 minutes later, but watched the open net shot be turned away in the final seconds by a Connecticut defender.
  • In the 27th minute, Sarah Hall came out of the net to make a save on a Bowdoin shot. Hall couldn't control the rebound and the ball trickled to Samaya Bernardo for an open equalizer.
  • The Camels' scored the game-winner in the 64th minute off a successful corner kick. Emma Quilty served a cross into the box for Ella Davidyock to push past Bowdoin's defense.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin held a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal and a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
  • Hall made nine stops for the Camels.
  • Alex Arndt made three saves for Bowdoin.
