AMHERST, Mass. – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team grabbed an early lead and held off a second-half rally to pick up a huge NESCAC win at Amherst on Saturday afternoon, 11-9. The 16^th-ranked Polar Bears improve to 7-3 (2-3 NESCAC) while the 19^th-ranked Mammoths fall to 6-2 (1-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights

• In a relatively low-scoring first half, Bowdoin never trailed, grabbing a 2-1 lead after one quarter thanks to goals from Sophia Sudano and Sophia Schaefer.
• The Polar Bears extended their lead with an impressive second period, as Sudano scored twice more, giving Bowdoin a 6-3 edge at the break.
• Amherst climbed back into the contest with a 4-1 run to open the third quarter, drawing even with 16 seconds left in the frame, 7-7.
• Bowdoin answered quickly, though, as Sophia Schaefer scored with just two seconds left in the frame to give the Polar Bears an 8-7 edge heading to the fourth.
• The teams traded goals to start the fourth quarter, with Amherst drawing to within 9-8 with 3:36 on the clock.
• Bowdoin sealed it with a pair of late draw control wins and clutch late-game goals by Colleen McAloon at 2:20 and Fiona Bundy with 45 seconds left to clinch the victory.

• Sophia Sudano scored four goals to lead Bowdoin while Fiona Bundy tallied two goals and three assists.
• Colleen McAloon and Sophia Schaefer had two goals apiece in the win.
• Bundy also added seven draw controls, four caused turnovers and five ground balls for the Polar Bears.
• Izzy Cisneros played 45 minutes in goal for Bowdoin, stopping eight shots and allowing seven goals. Sophie Brett made one save over the final quarter to close out the win.
