Men's Tennis Dispatches Amherst in Home-Opening Victory

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's tennis team won its home opener on Saturday morning, taking a 5-4 decision over Amherst at the Maine Pines Tennis Center. The seventh-ranked Polar Bears win their fifth straight overall and improve to 8-1 this spring with the win over the 20th-ranked Mammoths.
 
Match Highlights
  • A key 8-7 (7-5) tiebreaker win at number two doubles by Evan Fortier and Jack Flores gave Bowdoin an important 2-1 edge heading into singles play.
  • Bowdoin's other doubles win came courtesy of Ethan Bradley and Pieter Breuker at number three (8-5).
  • The Polar Bears won the first three completed singles matches, getting wins from Tristan Bradley (6-1, 6-2) and Evan Fortier (6-1, 6-2), setting up Pieter Breuker to clinch it with a 6-2, 6-0 win at number five singles.
