CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Bowdoin women's tennis team concluded its spring break trip with a pair of losses to nationally ranked CMS and Pomona-Pitzer while picking up a win at Occidental.
The Polar Bears return to Maine with a 2-3 record. Bowdoin fell 9-0 to CMS and 8-1 to Pomona-Pitzer. Between those matches, the Polar Bears blanked Occidental 9-0.
Occidental Match Highlights
- Jamilah Karah and Evelyn Safar cruised to an 8-1 win at #1 doubles.
- Hannah Buckhout and Elizabeth Yu also put together a tidy 8-2 victory at #2. Fleming Landau and Julia Deluca capped the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at #3.
- Both Yu and Landau did not drop a game in (6-0, 6-0) wins at #2 and #4, respectively.
- Both Buckhout and Bailey Prete were nearly perfect at #3 and #6 as each player dropped just one game.
- Deluca secured a point at #5 with a (6-1, 6-4) victory and Karah capped the day with a (6-3, 7-5) win at #1.
Pomona-Pitzer Match Highlights
- The pairing of Buckhout and Yu at #3 doubles earned Bowdoin's lone point against Pomona-Pitzer. The duo won 8-3.
- Karah forced a tiebreaker at #1 singles in the Polar Bears' competitive singles match. Karah ultimate fell (6-3, 7-5, 10-2).
