CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Bowdoin College men's tennis team rebounded from a first round loss to finish 2-1 at the Stag-Hen Invitational this weekend hosted by Pomona-Pitzer. The Polar Bears finished fifth overall, losing to Trinity (Texas) but defeating Emory and Gustavus Adolphus to close out the weekend. Bowdoin stands at 5-1 overall this spring.
 
Trinity Highlights

• Bowdoin lost a 6-3 decision to the eighth-ranked Tigers to suffer their first setback of the campaign.
• The Polar Bears received a lone doubles point at #3 from Ethan Bradley/Pieter Breuker (8-3) but couldn't muster a comeback in singles play.
• Reid Staples (7-6, 6-2) at number two and Evan Fortier (2-6, 6-3, 6-2) at number three accounted for Bowdoin's wins in singles action.

Emory Highlights

• Bowdoin rebounded in impressive fashion to bounce fifth-ranked Emory, 5-4.
• The Polar Bears trailed 2-1 after doubles play with Reid Staples/Tristan Bradley (8-6) earning a win at #1.
• Bowdoin overwhelmed Emory in singles action, winning four of six matches with Staples (7-5, 2-6, 6-3), Jack Flores (6-1, 4-6, 6-2) and Ethan Bradley (6-1, 7-6) bringing the match to a 4-4 tie.
• With Pieter Breuker the lone remaining singles match at #6, he brought home the win for Bowdoin with a 6-0, 6-7, 6-2 triumph.

Gustavus Adolphus

• Bowdoin capped the tournament with another win over a ranked opponent, knocking off 15^th-ranked Gustavus 6-3.
• Tristan Bradley/Reid Staples again earned a win in doubles action, taking an 8-6 win at #1.
• From there, Bowdoin won five of six singles matches to clinch the victory.
• Tristan Bradley (6-4, 6-4), Reid Staples (3-6, 6-4, 6-0), Evan Fortier (6-3, 6-2), Jack Flores (5-7, 6-2, 6-3) and Oscar Yang (6-0, 2-6, 6-2) all captured singles wins.
