Fourth Quarter Run Clinches Women's Lacrosse Win at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team dominated the second and fourth quarters of an impressive 17-10 road win at Williams on Saturday afternoon. The win gives the Polar Bears its first NESCAC victory of the year and improves the team to 3-2 (1-2 NESCAC) while the Ephs fall to 0-3 (0-3 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • After the teams traded the lead in the early going, with Williams taking a 4-3 advantage following 15 minutes of play, Bowdoin took command in the second quarter.
  • The Polar Bears scored six straight goals to open the frame, from six different scorers, to take a commanding 9-4 lead that Williams trimmed to 9-5 before halftime.
  • The Ephs drew within three goals on four occasions in the third quarter, and finally cut it to two goals – 12-10- on a score with 14:15 remaining in the game.
  • Bowdoin responded with authority, scoring the final five goals of the game to put the contest out of reach. Sophia Sudano and Colleen McAloon each scored twice in the game-clinching run for the Polar Bears.
By The Numbers
  • Sudano was outstanding, scoring six goals with two assists to lead Bowdoin offensively.
  • Colleen McAloon had four goals while Annabelle Gersch added two goals, an assist, nine draw controls and two groundballs.
  • Emelia Krakora had four groundballs, two caused turnovers and four draws for Bowdoin defensively.
  • Sophie Brett (40:15, nine saves) played the bulk of time in goal for Bowdoin, along with Sophia Rutman (9:39) and Izzy Cisneros (10:06).
