Connolly Earns 400th Win with Bowdoin Baseball as Polar Bears Split with Amherst

The Polar Bears are 3-3 on the year, while the Mammoths are 2-1. Connolly is just the third head coach at Bowdoin, in any sport, to reach the 400-win plateau, joining long-time men's ice hockey coach Terry Meagher and men's basketball coach Tim Gilbride. Bowdoin suffered a 10-1 setback in the series opener but bounced back with a 10-5 victory in game two.

Game One Highlights
  • Amherst went ahead 5-0 in the top of the first.
  • Bowdoin scored its lone run of the game in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI groundout by Gabe Peckler that plated Ben McKenzie.
  • The Mammoths went on to score a run in third inning. Three in the fourth, and another in the sixth.
  • Bowdoin managed four hits against the Amherst defense.
  • Luke Chessie suffered the loss on the mound.
  • Bobby Pearl went 2-for-3 at the plate.

  • The Mammoths took a 3-0 lead with another run in the fourth before Bowdoin could answer.
  • The Polar Bears exploded for nine runs in the fifth inning to take the lead.
  • Richie McNamara plated the team's first runs of the game with a double to left field that drove in CJ Brito-Trinidad and Robbie Sarmanian.
  • McKenzie doubled to right and drove in McNamara to make it 3-3.
  • Pearl singled to right and drove in a pair of runs.
  • With the bases loaded, Gavin Cann came up with a double to center that plated all three runners.
