Men's Lacrosse Holds Off Hamilton To Remain Unbeaten

CLINTON, N.Y. - The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team scored seven goals in the second quarter and held off a late Hamilton rally to earn a key 15-14 NESCAC road win over the Continentals on Monday afternoon. The Polar Bears remain unbeaten on the year at 3-0 (2-0 NESCAC) while Hamilton falls to 1-1 (0-1 NESCAC).

  • Bowdoin sprinted to a 4-0 lead out of the gate, getting a pair of early goals from Will Byrne to carry a 5-3 lead into the second quarter.
  • The Polar Bears ripped off seven goals in an explosive second-quarter flurry, spearheaded by three tallies from Donal Mullane, including a man-up goal with one minute before intermission to give Bowdoin a 12-7 lead at the break.
  • Hamilton recovered to outscore Bowdoin 3-1 in the third period, trimming the Polar Bear lead to 13-10 heading into the fourth.
  • Back-to-back goals by Byrne and Liam Ford pushed Bowdoin's lead to 15-11 with under four minutes to play. 
  • Hamilton scored three times in the final 1:14, but Ethan Barnard won the final faceoff for Bowdoin with under twenty seconds remaining to seal the victory.
