Women's Basketball Suffers Road Loss at Bates

LEWISTON, Maine – The Bates College women's basketball team dealt Bowdoin its third straight loss on Wednesday evening, 74-61. The Polar Bears fall to 16-7 (5-4 NESCAC) while the Bobcats move to 13-6 (5-3 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bates never trailed after the opening minutes, outscoring Bowdoin 18-10 in the second quarter to take a 40-29 lead into the break.
  • Bowdoin rallied thanks to 12 points from Sela Kay in the third quarter, coming to within seven points on a pair of occasions.
  • The Polar Bears could get no closer, however, as Bates pushed the lead back to double digits before the end of the third period and pushed the lead to as many as 19 points in the final quarter.
By The Numbers
  • Sela Kay (18), Megan Tan (12) and Tori Beck (11) saw double figures for the Polar Bears, who struggled to only 35% shooting in the loss.
  • Bates only shot 38% but held a commanding 55-38 rebounding edge and went 16-27 from the free throw line compared to 12-21 for Bowdoin.
