Volleyball Concludes Season With NESCAC Quarterfinal Loss to Amherst

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Bowdoin College volleyball team saw its season come to an end in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Amherst in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Tournament Friday night at Wesleyan. The Polar Bears end their year with a record of 13-10.
 
Match Highlights
  • The Mammoths prevailed by set scores of 25-17, 25-23, 25-19 to take the win.
  • Tied at 13 apiece in the opening set, Amherst took the lead for good with a quick 3-0 spurt and pulled away late for a 25-17 win.
  • Bowdoin rallied from a 22-19 deficit in the second set to tie the score at 23 apiece with a 4-1 run, capping it with a kill from Jaida Hodge-Adams. But the Mammoths won back-to-back points on Bowdoin attack errors to come away with a 25-23 win and 2-0 overall lead.
  • The teams were tied again, this time at 15 apiece in the third set, before a 4-0 Amherst run opened up a margin that proved too large for Bowdoin to overcome as the Mammoths completed the sweep in a 25-19 win.
By The Numbers
  • In her final collegiate contest, Jaida Hodge-Adams was excellent, putting home a season-high 15 kills with three blocks.
  • Jenna Robbins had nine kills and 11 digs while Sarah Evans had eight kills and five digs.
  • Ella Haugen notched 24 assists and Maya White posted 11 digs in the loss.
  • Amherst was led by 11 kills, three aces and nine digs from Sam Underwood.
  • The loss marks the first time Bowdoin was unable to advance out of the first round of the NESCAC Tournament since 2010.
