Williams Flips the Script and Pins 3-1 Setback on Women's Hockey in Game Two

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey settled for a series split with Williams falling an Ephs 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears and Ephs sport matching 1-1-0 (1-1-0 NESCAC) records.

Game Highlights
  • Dani Marquez kept the Ephs off the board early in the game, despite immediate offensive pressure from the visitors. The senior made a pair of point-blank breakaway saves on shots by Elia Chiang midway through the frame.
  • Williams finally solved Marquez with 1:09 remaining in the first. Delaney Szlezngier took a shot from the right point that was deflected down and poked free by Jaelyn Keiver. Keiver deflected the puck to the stick of Lucie Bond who flipped it up and over Marquez.
  • Bowdoin found an equalizer 5:33 into the second period. On the power play, Elsa Cassidy cycled the puck to Kathryn Kester in the center. Kester fed Gia Massari on the right who ricocheted a shot bar down.
  • The Ephs regained the lead as Chiang fed Maddie Tix with a breakout pass along the right boards. Tix skated into the Bowdoin zone and had an initial shot locked down by Marquez. Tix stayed with the play and bullied the puck through the pads.
  • Williams iced the game with an empty-netter as Chiang picked off a Bowdoin defender and slid a shot into the exposed net.
