BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College football team defeated Colby for the first time since 2015 in a 21-14 victory at Whittier Field on Saturday.
With the win, the Polar Bears (3-6) finish with three wins in a season for the first time since 2013 and end the year 3-1 at home to post their first winning campaign at Whittier Field since 2011. Colby ends the year with a record of 4-5 at the CBB finishes in a three-way tie for the first time since 2011.
Game Highlights
- The Polar Bears took the opening kickoff and marched 75 yards in 16 plays, scoring on a slashing, eight-yard run by Andre Eden to take a 7-0 lead.
- Colby answered immediately with an eight-play 75 yard drive of their own, with Donovan Ganges capping the drive with an six-yard rushing touchdown to even the score at 7-7.
- After a Bowdoin punt, Colby closed the opening quarter with a bang, scoring on the longest play of the game – a 45-yard pass from Matt Hersch to Jack Sawyer to take a 14-7 edge.
- Bowdoin was able to even the score before halftime, as a 37-yard pass from Robbie Long to Colton Fahey put Bowdoin down to the Colby 1. On the next play, Long plunged the final yard to deadlock the score at 14 apiece.
- The teams traded possessions throughout the second half as the defenses took hold of the contest into the fourth quarter.
- Bowdoin took control with 9:38 to go at the Colby 45 following a great defensive stand, and covered the final 45 yards in seven plays. The game-winning touchdown came on a fourth-and-one at the Colby five as Long used a sneak up the middle to power home behind the Bowdoin offensive line for the touchdown with 5:36 to go.
- The Bowdoin defense stood tall twice on Colby's final two drives, clinching the game on a Chris Althoff interception with 1:35 remaining in the contest.

- Robbie Long became the second Bowdoin quarterback in school history to rush for 100 yards in a game (Oliver Kell, 111 vs. Wesleyan, 2008), reaching exactly 100 yards on 26 carries with two touchdowns.
- Andre Eden had 75 yards on 21 carries, moving into Bowdoin's top ten all-time in career rushing yards in the win.
- Bowdoin's defense was outstanding, shutting Colby out for the final three quarters and holding the Mules under 200 yards in the game.
- Koy Price had six tackles, including a sack for Bowdoin while Max Jacobs also collected six stops and a sack.
- Aidan MacNeil had two pass breakups and Chris Althoff wrapped up the game-clinching INT in the win.
