BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Connecticut College men's soccer team upset top-seeded Bowdoin in penalty kicks after the two teams tied 1-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Camels came away with a 3-1 win in PK's.
The Polar Bears (11-1-4) came back from a 1-0 deficit to force overtime with the Camels (7-5-4). The Camels won a pair of NCAA Tournament games, including the National Championship, in penalty kick shootouts.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin had several scoring chances in the opening half of play. In the 5th minute Felipe Rueda Duran got loose in front of the net and put a shot just wide left.
- The Polar Bears were unable to convert on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute, sending the teams into halftime tied 0-0.
- The Camels got the ball for a throw-in from their attacking right side at midfield. The ball went to Matt Scaffone who made a left-footed pass up the field and around a defender. Steven Yeonas one-touched past a defender and slid to the ground as he put a final push on the ball to beat Michael Webber in the 50th minute.
- Bowdoin knotted the game at 1-1 15 minutes later. A long free kick from midfield found the chest of Tyler Huck in the box. Huck deflected the ball left to Ronaldo Cabral who finished off the play on the post.
- The Camels converted on three of four attempts, while the Polar Bears converted on their first and then saw three straight denials.

- The Polar Bears held a 17-11 shot advantage.
- Both teams earned three corner kicks.
- Webber and Peter Silvester both made seven saves during 110 minutes of game play.
