Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Shuts Out Continentals in 2-0 Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 shutout against Hamilton on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears (8-3-1, 3-3-1 NESCAC) return to the win column and will look to build momentum. The Continentals return home with a 5-3-1 (2-3-4 NESCAC) record.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears scored 7:27 into the game to go ahead 1-0. Kyra Hacker took a free kick from left of the box and serviced Samaya Bernardo. Bernardo headed the ball and went bar down to beat Nieve Tonna.
  • Shortly after the goal, Greta Farkas saw a shot bounce off the crossbar.
  • Bernardo added a solo effort in the 59th minute. Bernardo worked the ball to the left post and the goalie dove to try and make a play. With the goalie on the ground, Bernardo snaked a no-angle shot inside the net to make it 2-0.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin held a 17-11 edge in shots, but the Continentals held a 10-7 shots on goal advantage.
  • Bowdoin had seven corner kicks to Hamilton's one.
  • Alex Arndt made ten saves to earn the shutout. Tonna made five stops for the Continentals.
