Cold Shooting Sinks Polar Bears in Men's Basketball Loss to Tufts

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team couldn't recover from an early deficit in a 73-54 loss to Tufts on Friday evening. The Polar Bears fall to 10-9 (1-5 NESCAC) with the setback while the Jumbos improve to 8-9 (3-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears scored the first four points of the game, but Tufts rode the hot shooting of Tyler Aronson, who tallied 13 first-half points to storm back with a 17-3 run to take a double-digit lead.
  • Tufts carried a 16-point edge into the break, 36-20, as they held Bowdoin to 25% shooting for the game.
  • Bowdoin opened the second half on a 8-0 run to climb back within eight points, 36-28, with 15:15 to go.
  • That would be as close as the Polar Bears got, as Dylan Thoerner connected on a trio of three-pointers to push the lead back to double figures.

  • Bowdoin just couldn't get going offensively, hitting just 30% of their shots in the game, including a 4-22 effort from long distance.
  • Tufts finished at 43% for the game and hit 11 three-pointers in the victory.
  • Xander Werkman had 14 points and eight rebounds before fouling out for Bowdoin. James McGowan contributed 12 points and eight boards as well.
  • Tufts was led by 25 points from Dylan Thoerner. Luke Rogers had 12 points and 17 rebounds for the Jumbos
