Women's Soccer Overwhelms Farmington In Season-Opening Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's soccer team erupted for a school-record 11 goals in a season-opening 11-0 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington on Wednesday afternoon. The Polar Bears, who returned to action for the first time since October of 2019, improve to 1-0-0 on the year while the Beavers fall to 0-3-0.
 
Game Highlights By The Numbers
  • Meyers, Bernardo, Quintana, Lymburner and Olcese all scored their first career goals in the win for Bowdoin.
  • The Polar Bears owned a 45-0 advantage in shots and neither goaltender Penny Rocchio or Alex Arndt were forced to make a save.
  • Callie Hammer made 20 saves for UMF before giving way to Lily Souza, who made one save over the final 18 minutes.
  • Bowdoin's 11 goals were the most by the team in program history, breaking the former record of nine, set three times.
