Major Offensive Output Pushes Women's Soccer Past Mariners

CASTINE, Maine – The Bowdoin women's soccer team returned to the win column with a 9-0 victory over Maine Maritime on Sunday afternoon.
 
Th Polar Bears improve to 2-1-0 on the young season as the Mariners fall to 2-3-0.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored three goals in the opening 15 minutes of action. Jamie Lau got the goals going off an assist from Lynn Farquhar. Rachael Peacock scored off a feed from Isa Quintana and Greta Farkas added another from Julia Adelmann.
  • The Mariners kept the Polar Bears off the scoreboard for the remainder of the first half.
  • Adelmann got the second half scoring started off an assist from Quintana ten minutes into the frame. Lau added another two minutes later.
  • Between the 60th and 70th minutes, Bowdoin scored three more goals. Farquhar, Annie Pyne, and Morgan Smiley all netted the ball. Ella Olcese capped the game's scoring, making it 9-0 with three minutes remaining.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin held a 38-1 edge in shots and 11-0 corner kick advantage.
  • Bess MacArthur played 61 minutes in net and made 11 saves. Catherine Swift made five saves in the remaining 28 minutes.
  • Penny Rocchio played the first half for Bowdoin and Alex Arndt played the second with one save.
