Bowdoin's Preston Anderson Receives Prestigious Rousmaniere Award From ICSA Hall of Fame

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Hall of Fame Committee has recognized Bowdoin's Preston Anderson '22 (Highland Park, Ill.) as the recipient of the James Rousmaniere Award for student leadership.

With the honor, Anderson joins four other inductees in the 2021 class of the ICSA Hall of Fame.

The James Rousmaniere Award for Student Leadership recognizes an undergraduate for extraordinary achievement in leadership whose efforts have made a significant contribution to the development, progress and success of his or her club or team, conference or the ICSA.

Anderson has been a part of a transformative group of undergraduate leaders that have been pushing college sailing to become more diverse during the 2020-21 academic year. He has taken on an important role of helping to educate both the sailors and coaches about important topics related to diversity and inclusion, including the establishment of TIDE (The Inclusivity, Diversity and Equity) Task Force of the ICSA last summer.
Anderson was also named the undergraduate chair of the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association's TIDE committee.

A skipper for the Bowdoin sailing team and member of the class of 2022, Anderson is a History major and Africana Studies minor and, in addition to his work on the NEISA and ICSA TIDE committees, is also a member of the US Sailing DEI Audit Working group.
