Women's Hockey Concludes Semester with 3-0 Shutout Against USM

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's hockey team concluded its first semester schedule with a 3-0 victory of visiting USM on Tuesday evening.
 
The Polar Bears head into the break with a 4-3-0 record. Southern Maine falls to 6-6-0.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin jumped out to a 2-0 lead with quick consecutive goals at 6:10 and 6:46. The Polar Bears ahead as Zoe Wilson put away a rebound off the pads, off an initial shot by Angelina Joyce.
  • A tic-tac-toe passing sequence from Elsa Cassidy to Zoe Wilson set up Brett Stoddard for a one-timer into the net.
  • With four minutes remaining in the period, Zoe Solomons intercepted a pass and took a point-blank shot on Meg Miranda. Miranda made the save and poked the rebound away before another Huskie player could track it down.
  • Bowdoin added a power play goal just under ten minutes into the middle frame. Allie Britt controlled the puck in the left circle and kicked a high centering pass back to Izzi Stoddard. Stoddard wristed a shot past Haley McKim.
 
By the Numbers
  • Miranda made 17 stops to earn the shutout for Bowdoin.
  • McKim made 37 saves in net for the Huskies.
  • Bowdoin wen 1-for-7 on the power play.
  • USM was 0-for-5 on the power play.
