Women's Tennis Enjoys Outstanding Showings at New England ITA's

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's tennis team enjoyed a phenomenal weekend of play at the ITA New England Championship, highlighted by Jamilah Karah reaching the finals of the A-Singles bracket.
 
Tournament Highlights
  • Karah was outstanding in her first ITA Regional Championship, winning five matches over three days in the A-Singles draw, including wins over three ranked opponents to reach Sunday's final. Karah defeated Kim Liao of MIT 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals before falling to Sahan Raman of Middlebury in the finals (6-2, 7-6).
  • Kennedi Carter and Evelyn Safar also made a run for Bowdoin in the doubles tournament, reaching the semifinals with four wins, including three victories over ranked teams before falling to a Wesleyan pairing in the semifinals on Sunday morning.
  • Safar also was excellent in the A-bracket, winning a pair of matches to reach the round of 16 in her ITA debut.
  • Lizzy Yu of Bowdoin made a fantastic run in the B-bracket of singles, advancing all the way to Sunday's finals. Yu won four matches and advanced to the finals in a walkover before falling in a hard-fought three-set battle to Renna Moshen-Breen of Wesleyan, 6-2, 1-6, 10-7.
