Field Hockey to Host Amherst in NESCAC Quarterfinals Saturday

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Thanks to a win over Tufts in the regular season finale on Wednesday night, the Bowdoin College field hockey team has earned the third seed for the 2021 NESCAC Tournament. The Polar Bears (12-3) will host Amherst at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in a rematch of the first conference game of the season, won by the Mammoths, 2-1, on September 11.
 
Quarterfinal action begins on Saturday, October 30 on the campuses of the higher seeds. The four quarterfinal winners will square off in the semifinal round on Saturday, November 6 at the highest remaining seed, and the championship game is set for Sunday, November 7 at the site of the semifinal games.

Notes: Amherst is the No. 6 seed for the first time since 2017 … The Mammoths will travel to Bowdoin for the quarterfinals … Amherst defeated the Polar Bears, 2-1, on September 11 and is 0-4 versus Bowdoin in the NESCAC Championship series … The teams last met in the 2015 semifinals which resulted in a 4-0 loss for the Mammoths … Amherst is looking to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2015.
