Mammoths Sweep Women's Hockey Series

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's hockey team suffered a weekend sweep at the hands of Amherst following a 2-1 result on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears drop to 7-9-3 (4-7-1 NESCAC) as the Mammoths improve to 13-4-4 (8-3-3 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

  • The Mammoths went ahead 1-0 five minutes into action. Avery Flynn set up the play with a breakout pass from the Amherst zone to Kate Pohl in front of Bowdoin's bench. Pohl and Angelina Wiater skated in for a two on goal, with Pohl on the left and Wiater in the center. Pohl fed Wiater who faked right and dragged left for the goal.
  • Bowdoin came out firing in the third and evened the game 23 seconds into the frame. Nell Fusco swung the puck from the left point to Izzi Stoddard in the high slot. Stoddard's shot connected with the stick of Angelina Joyce and Caitlin Walker stopped the puck. Joyce poked back her own rebound.
  • Amherst regained the lead four minutes later off a turnover in front of Bowdoin's bench. Natalie Lima intercepted the puck and skated in for a successful one-on-goal.
