CLINTON, N.Y. – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team bounced back from just their second loss of the season with a crucial 89-74 win at Hamilton on Saturday.
The third-ranked Polar Bears improve to 20-2 (7-2 NESCAC) and officially clinch a home NESCAC Quarterfinal game on Saturday, Feb. 22 with the win. Hamilton falls to 14-8 (4-4 NESCAC) with the setback.
Game Highlights
- After struggling in the early going on Friday at Amherst, Bowdoin had no such trouble on Saturday, posting 27 points on 58% shooting.
- Hamilton stayed close, however, trailing just 27-22 after one quarter, and closing the gap to 44-37 at halftime thanks to a buzzer-beater from Kayla Glemaud.
- The Continentals opened the second half on a 9-2 run to tie the game at 46 apiece, and took as much as a four-point edge, 55-51, after a three-pointer from Carly O'Hern midway through the third quarter.
- Bowdoin took control from there, using a 7-0 run to regain the lead on layups from Ali Meade and Moira Train to take a 58-57 lead into the final quarter.
- After Hamilton took a momentary lead to begin the final period, Bowdoin used a three-point play by Sela Kay to spark an 8-2 surge to regain the lead they would never relinquish.
- The Continentals stayed within striking distance until the five minute mark when a 7-1 Polar Bear surge, capped by a three-point play from Samantha Roy, pushed the lead to double digits with under four minutes to play.

- Samantha Roy led all players with 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists while Maddie Hasson recorded 15 points and 12 caroms along with four steals.
- Sela Kay pitched in 19 points off the bench for the Polar Bears, highlighted by 15 in the second half to help put Bowdoin over the top. Moira Train had 14 for the Polar Bears.
- Bowdoin shot 50% for the game and owned a 37-20 advantage in rebounding, cashing in 14 second-chance points.
- The Polar Bears were able to overcome electric outside shooting by the Continentals, who went 12-19 (63%) from long distance.
