Trinity Trips Up Men's Hockey in Friday Night Action

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Trinity men's hockey team stormed Bowdoin in an 8-1 final on Friday night in Watson Arena.

The Polar Bears drop to 9-11-1 (5-9-1 NESCAC). The nationally-ranked Bantams climb to 15-5-2 (10-4-1 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

  • The Bantams jumped out to an early lead, scoring just 1:12 into action. Lucas Michaud cycled the puck up to Andrew Troy who fired a shot from the high slot. Barclay Gammil deflected the shot as it came towards net, besting Alex Zafonte.
  • Trinity doubled its lead with a power play tally 4:41 into the second. Cole Poliziani deflected a shot in front of the net off an initial bid by Devin Moore from the left point.
  • Bowdoin cut the deficit in half during four-on-four action. Ronnie Lestan brought the puck up the left side and found Albert Washco on the far side. Washco skated into the Trinity zone and wristed a shot past Jonah Capriotti.
  • Jack McCarthy extended Trinity's lead back to two with 4:44 remaining in the frame. Nick Polsinelli skated the puck into Bowdoin territory with McCarthy on his right for a two-on-one. Polsinelli drew Zafonte and dished right for McCarthy to finish the play far side.
  • Trinity exploded for five goals in the third period, including four power play goals.

By the Numbers

  • Poliziani and Gammill bioth had a hattricks. Moore accounted for four assists and Michaud had three.
  • Zafonte made 30 stops on 37 shots. Kyle St. Denis made three stops on four shots.
  • Capriotti made 21 saves.
  • Trinity was 5-for-7 on the power play.
  • Bowdoin went 0-for-4 on the power play.
