Women's Soccer Tops Trinity 2-1 in NESCAC Action

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Bowdoin women's soccer team earned its first NESCAC win of the season with a 2-1 result at Trinity on Saturday.

The Polar Bears (3-4-1, 1-3-1 NESCAC) earned the one-goal win after suffering one-goal setbacks in all three of its conference losses. The Bantams are 2-4-1 (1-2-0 NESCAC) on the year.

Game Highlights

  • The Polar Bears jumped on the board with a goal 15 minutes into action. Sophia Lemmer controlled the ball and passed back to Aine Lawlor in the middle. Lawlor sent a through ball to Lynn Farquhar on the left side behind Trinity's back line. With one quick touch towards goal, Farquhar slotted a shot inside far post.
  • Trinity knotted the game at 1-1 in the 25th minute. Hannah Storozuk sent a long pass up the center from the midfield to Colleen Lux. Lux fired a shot from just inside the box to even the game.
  • Rachael Peacock netted the game-winner in the 59th minute off a feed from Lawlor.

  • Bowdoin held an 8-6 edge in shots.
  • Trinity had a 3-2 corner kick advantage.
  • Penny Rocchio made three stops for Bowdoin.
  • Taylor O'Connor made two saves.
