Big Second Quarter Carries Trinity Past Bowdoin Football

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College football team used a 27-point second quarter to pull away from Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon, 61-7.

The Polar Bears are 0-2 to start the season while Trinity bounces back from their first season-opening loss in 24 years and improves to 1-1.

Game Highlights

  • Bowdoin hung with the Bantams in the opening quarter, allowing a 23-yard touchdown pass from Seamus Lambert to DeVante Reid for the game's opening score as Trinity held a 6-0 lead after one quarter.
  • The Bantams opened it up in the second quarter, however, scoring 27 points in a span of just over 12 minutes to put the game out of reach. Reid caught two long touchdown passes and Spencer Lockwood had two short touchdown rushes in the quarter for Trinity.
  • Bowdoin's lone score came in the third quarter on their best drive of the day. A ten-play, 86-yard drive was capped by a one-yard touchdown pass from Austin McCrum to Patrick Zepf.

By The Numbers

  • Trinity totaled 573 yards of offense, led by 391 yards passing from Lambert and 246 yards receiving from Reid.
  • Bowdoin's Austin McCrum went 16-30 passing for 121 yards, led by three catches for 48 yards for Bo Millett.
  • Brendan Ward had 48 yards rushing on nine attempts.
  • Defensively, Matthew Williams and Nicholas Leahy had six tackles apiece.
