Women's Tennis Falls to MIT In NCAA Regional Final

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's tennis team saw its season come to an end in the regional final as MIT eked out a 5-3 win on Sunday afternoon. 

The nearly four hour match saw the Engineers (18-3) take a 3-0 lead after doubles play, but the Polar Bears (15-6) won the first three singles matches to tie match.

Match Highlights

  • The Polar Bears fell behind 3-0 in doubles action. Tasha Christ and Izzy Essi at #2 and Sarah Shadowens and Fleming Landau at #3 both mounted comebacks late in their matches before falling 8-6.
  • Sasa Jovanovic picked up the first point for Bowdoin at #5, winning 6-1, 7-6.
  • At #1, Julia Marks went 6-3, 6-4 to pull the Polar Bears within one.
  • Fleming Landau tied the match overall at 3-3 with her win at #6 (6-1, 6-4).
  • MIT earned their fourth and fifth points to punch their ticket to the quarterfinal.
