Women's Tennis Cruises to Thursday Victory Over Bates

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's tennis team completed its home schedule with an easy 8-1 win over Bates on Thursday afternoon.

The Polar Bears, who rank seventh in the latest ITA Division III poll, improve to 12-4 this season with the victory.

Match Highlights

  • The Polar Bears swept the three doubles matches with Julia Marks/Devon Wolfe (8-1) and Izzy Essi/Tasha Christ (8-2) cruising to wins at the top two positions.
  • Fleming Landau/Sarah Shadowens gave Bowdoin a 3-0 lead with an 8-5 win at number three doubles.
  • Bowdoin won five of six singles matches, all straight-set wins, to seal the victory.
  • Christ (6-0, 6-1), Wolfe (6-1, 6-0), Essi (6-1, 6-0), Sasa Jovanovic (6-2, 6-0) and Landau (6-1, 6-0) all earned quick victories.
