Continentals Pin 2-0 Setback on Visiting Women's Hockey

CLINTON, N.Y.  – The Hamilton women's ice hockey team scored a pair of second period goals to down visiting Bowdoin 2-0 on Friday evening.

The Polar Bears are 3-15-1 (2-9-0 NESCAC), while the Continentals are 11-6-2 (5-4-2 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

  • The Continentals held a slight 10-9 edge in the first period, while each team sent a player to the box late in the frame.
  • Hamilton broke open a scoreless game 1:49 into the second period. Missy Segall won the puck off the back boards and skated around to the right side of Bowdoin's goal into the faceoff circle. Segall found Kate Piacenza cutting towards the slot for a backhanded shot.
  • The Continentals doubled their lead midway through the frame as Piacenza stole the puck in Hamilton's zone and skated alone towards Kerri St. Denis. Skating towards the crease, she pulled from forehand to backhand and put the puck off the right post.
  • The teams combined for four penalties in the third period, but neither team was able to convert and the Polar Bears successfully killed a minute of five-on-three.
