Volleyball Continues to Roll, Blanks Amherst in Key NESCAC Win

AMHERST, Mass. – The Bowdoin College volleyball team rolled to its 10th consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon, dominating Amherst by a 3-0 decision.

The Polar Bears improve to 14-6 (6-2 NESCAC) with the victory.

Match Highlights

  • The Polar Bears left little doubt in a battle between two teams near the top of the league standings, cruising to an impressive 25-16, 25-19, 25-13 victory.
  • After a close opening to the first set, Bowdoin went on a 12-3 run to take the first set, winning it on a Lexie Freund service ace, 25-16.
  • The second set was more of the same for Bowdoin, as they won five of the last six points to pull away, winning it on an Ashley Williams kill 25-19.
  • The Polar Bears completed the sweep with their best set of the day, using an 11-2 surge to take complete control with Caroline Flaharty finishing it off with a kill to take the victory.

By The Numbers

  • For the second straight night Cori Gray was outstanding, posting nine kills and seven blocks for Bowdoin.
  • Sophia Pahl had seven kills and seven digs for Bowdoin, who got a team-high 23 digs from Emily King.
  • Ella Haugen (19 assists) and Kate Kiser (10 assists) sparked the Bowdoin offense as the Polar Bears totaled 10 service aces in the victory.

  • Bowdoin closes out their regular season at home next weekend with in-state foes Bates and Colby. The Polar Bears will host Colby on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. before playing Bates on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
