Box Score GORHAM, Maine – The Bowdoin College volleyball team used a balanced attack to dispatch the University of Southern Maine, 3-0, in its season-opener on Wednesday evening.
The Polar Bears (1-0) cruised to the win by set scores of 25-8, 25-13, 25-22 to take the win. USM falls to 2-2 with the setback.
Match Highlights
- Bowdoin lost the opening point of the match but answered with a 7-1 run to take command of the first set en route to the 25-8 win.
- The Polar Bears trailed 6-1 in the second set, but rebounded with an 8-2 run to take the lead. Tied at 13 apiece later in the set, the Polar Bears closed the set on a 12-0 surge to clinch it.
- The third set was the most competitive of the evening and despite Bowdoin holding a 19-11 lead, USM rallied to take the lead 21-20. Bowdoin closed it out with a 5-1 run, however, to complete the sweep.
