Box Score 2 PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Bowdoin College volleyball team picked up a out-of-region win over Scranton before falling to fourth-ranked Johnson & Wales in a split on Saturday at the Johnson & Wales Invitational in Rhode Island.
The Polar Bears drop their first match of the season and stand at 10-1 this fall. Bowdoin swept Scranton 3-0 and lost to J&W 3-1.
Scranton Match Highlights
- Bowdoin won by set scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-20.
- Another balanced attack by the Polar Bears featured eight players with three or more kills, led by nine from Ashley Williams and seven from Sophia Pahl.
- Kate Kiser picked up 21 assists before giving way to Lexie Freund, who dished out 17.
- Pahl had three aces and ten digs while Lisa Sheldon had 18 digs for the Polar Bears.
Johnson & Wales Highlights
- Bowdoin was able to steal a set from the nationally-ranked Wildcats but fell in a tightly-contested 25-12, 21-25, 25-22, 25-21 decision.
- Caroline Flaharty posted a team-best 17 kills while also collecting 13 digs. Sydney Salle recorded a dozen kills in the loss.
- Kate Kiser had 42 assists and ten digs while Lisa Sheldon earned 25 digs for Bowdoin.
