Women's Tennis Suffers Weekend Setbacks to Top-Ten Teams

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to nationally-ranked opponents over the weekend.

The Polar Bears (7-7) fell to top-ranked Emory (10-4) by an 8-1 margin on Friday. Bowdoin suffered a 6-3 setback to eighth-ranked Amherst (6-4) on Sunday.

Emory Match Highlights

  • Tess Trinka and Izzy Essi both took first set victories in singles play, but ultimately fell in the final tiebreaker.
  • Sasa Jovanovic earned Bowdoin's lone point against Emory, pinning a quick 6-1, 6-1 setback on her opponent at six.

Amherst Match Highlights

  • Trinka and Essi picked up a point at one doubles, with a commanding 8-1 result.
  • Tasha Christ tallied a victory at two singles, going 6-3, 6-4.
  • Jovanovic completed her perfect singles weekend with a 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) win.
