Trinka Battles at Top Spot, Polar Bears Bested by Second-Ranked Ephs

 BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's tennis team fell to second-ranked Williams by an 8-1 margin on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (8-10) fell behind the Ephs (17-0) after being swept in doubles.

Match Highlights

  • The closest doubles match of the day was at number two as Viv Daniel and Rachel Bercovitch battled early, taking a 5-4 lead, before ultimately falling 8-5.
  • In singles play, Sasa Jovanovic lost a tight match at number six after winning the first set 6-2. Giulia McDowell earned the point for Williams with a 6-4 win in set two and a 10-8 tiebreaker.
  • Tess Trinka earned the lone point for Bowdoin at number one singles. Trinka lost a tight opening set, but captured the second to force a tiebreaker. The senior captain ultimately won 5-7, 6-4, 10-7.
