WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin College football team closed its season with a 30-14 loss to Colby on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears finish the season 1-8 despite out-gaining the Mules on the afternoon. Colby (3-6) claims its first CBB Championship since 2005 with the victory.

Game Highlights

• Bowdoin gained over 100 yards rushing in the first half but couldn't get on the scoreboard as the Mules carried a 3-0 lead into the break on a 29-yard field goal by Walter Thilly.
• The Mules broke it open in the third quarter, scoring on a 47-yard touchdown run by Jake Schwern and then taking advantage of a Bowdoin turnover to add a one-yard touchdown run to make it 17-0.
• Early in the fourth quarter, another Polar Bear turnover gave Colby the ball on the one yard line. Four plays later another Schwern TD run make it 24-0 and another scamper by Schwern on Colby's next possession extended the lead to 30-0.
• Bowdoin got on the scoreboard with a 48 yard touchdown run by Brendan Ward and closed the final margin to 16 points when Bo Millett hauled in a five-yard TD pass from Austin McCrum in the final minute of play.

By The Numbers

• Bowdoin owned an advantage in total yards (374-319) but had two key turnovers deep in their own territory and converted just 4-16 on third down in the loss.
• Brendan Ward had a career-high 146 yards rushing on 28 carries. Austin McCrum went 15-31 for 172 yards passing with a touchdown. Bo Millett caught nine passes for 138 yards.
• For the second straight year, Jake Schwern did in Bowdoin, rushing for 185 yards on 34 carries with three touchdowns.
• Liam Dougherty led Bowdoin defensively with 11 tackles on the afternoon.
