BRUNSWICK, Maine – Matty McColl converted on a tie-breaking penalty kick in the 74^th minute to lift the Bowdoin men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over visiting Thomas College on Monday afternoon.

The Polar Bears climb to 5-3-0 after handing the Terriers just their second loss (9-2-0) of the season.

Game Highlights

• Bowdoin controlled play in the first half, outshooting the Terrier 13-5, but neither team could convert. Chris Kingston shut down a promising Thomas bid in the 39^th minute, challenging a 50/50 ball with a sliding stop.
• The Polar Bears broke through 1:08 into the second half. Justin Miller serviced Drake Byrd with a cross, setting Byrd up for a midair volley to best Jonathan Dutka.
• MacQuille Walker nearly put Thomas on the board three minutes later with a close range shot the curled just beyond the opposite side post.
• The Terriers evened the game in the 55^th minute. Following a corner kick, the ball rattled around in the box before Kyle Patterson trapped it and fed a short pass to Adam LaBrie at the top. LaBrie put a quick touch on the ball to skim a shot through the defense.
• McColl gave Bowdoin its final lead of the day with a successful penalty kick in the 74^th minute.
