Men's Basketball Holds Off Husson Rally To Earn Tuesday Road Win

BANGOR, Maine - Behind a season-high 29 points from Jack Simonds, the Bowdoin College men's basketball team held off Husson 90-87 on Tuesday night.

The Polar Bears improve to 11-4 with the victory while the Eagles fall to 10-4 with the loss.

Game Highlights

  • Husson jumped out to a nine point lead in the first minutes of the game, but Bowdoin rallied quickly to jump ahead 16-14 with 13:11 remaining in the first half.
  • The teams traded the lead several times over the remainder of the opening period as the hosts took a slim 42-40 lead at halftime thanks to a Justin Martin layup.
  • Bowdoin came out of the gate quickly in the second half, regained the lead and pushed their advantage to double digits with a 20-8 run, capped by three-pointers from Simonds, Liam Farley and David Reynolds to take a 60-50 lead with 15 minutes remaining.
  • Husson wouldn't go away and rallied to tie the game at 76 apiece on a Martin trifecta with 6:33 to go.
  • Bowdoin regained a six-point lead thanks to a Simonds three-pointer and Farley three-point play, 82-76, with five minutes on the clock.
  • The Polar Bears maintained a five-point edge, 89-84 with under a minute to play, but a three-point play by Husson's Justin Thompson with 24 seconds left trimmed the lead to two points, 89-87.
  • Raheem Anderson had two chances in the closing moments to give Husson the lead or tie, but missed a pair of three-pointers as Bowdoin clung to the win.
